HISTORY/HOSTS
---
1000 Acres Ranch is a dude ranch resort, which sits on the banks of the Hudson River and is located in the town of Stony Creek. It all started in 1942 by Jack and Ester Arehart. Today it's still owned and operated by the Arehart family. For over 64 years the Arehart family has created a vacation paradise in the heart of the Adirondacks. It was often called the "Cadillac of Ranching". At its inception, the Ranch catered to a single clientele. Originally providing rooms for about thirty individuals, the ranch has expanded to accommodate about 250 guests. Families are now the main clientele - a change that occurred in the mid 60's and 70's.
