LODGING
We have just completed renovations to our historic 100 year old ranch headquarters lodge and the adjacent 2 room Buckaroo Cabin. We have private and semi private accommodations that can sleep between 2 and 4 persons per room. Our maximum is 13, so when you stay with us, you will feel like you are right at home. Because we are small, we offer warm and personalized service in cozy and comfortable accommodations.

Our ranch is ideal for family reunions and groups, and we can reserve the entire ranch just for you if you wish.

RECREATION
We enjoy the company of small groups so we prefer to offer our ranch to no more than 12 or 13 guests per week. This allows all of us to have a unique and intimate family type experience with each of you.

With us you will experience the life of the real working cowboy, from the minute you wake in the morning to the time your head hits the pillow at night.

Our main focus is horseback riding and cattle work on our privately owned 38,000 acres, combined together with typical guest ranch activities.

You will be riding side by side with our cowboys experiencing true ranchwork on an authentic and historic Nevada cattle ranch.

A typical week may include cattle work of moving, sorting, doctoring, gathering, branding and anything else that comes along with real ranch work.

At the 71 none of our activities are "staged". Everything we do is for real. We do what it takes to get the job done each day, every day. We can guarantee that you will be getting "down and dirty" right along with us each day.

We also mix in other interesting and exciting things for you to do. It's your vacation and we want you to experience as much adventure as you wish while you are here.

You will be able to participate in roping lessons, arena work, improving your riding skills, team penning and team sorting, breakfast rides, cowboy school, hay rides, and much more.

We also have barn dancing, Casino night in Elko, a hot tub, clay pidgeon and target shooting, and lots of other recreational activities.

FOR CHILDREN
We are a true working ranch and therefore it is necessary to limit our stays to children 8 years old and above. We do offer family weeks, but some weeks are best suited for older children, teens and adults. We do not offer a structured children's program.

We encourage you to chat with us about what you and your family would like to accomplish while staying with us so we can help you choose a week which is best suited for your family vacation.

FOOD/LIQUOR
Our food is superb. We like to refer to it as "ranch cookin' with a gourmet flair". Scrumptious home baked pastries. Lip smacking BBQ ribs. Delicioius desserts. We assure you that you won't leave our table hungry. Three full meals daily which include great breakfast rides, steak dinner rides and more.

If you have special dietary needs, we will work with you to fulfill those requests. We do not have a liquor license, so BYOB.

BUSINESS/MEETINGS
We understand the needs of our business groups and have worked hard to make sure they are met. Your business or group meeting needs to be a success and we would love to be a part of it. We have WI-FI in lots of areas around the Lodge and a small business center available.

A relaxing, comfortable, calm, hassle-free warm and friendly place for your meetings is just a phone call away when when you plan your next meeting with us.

REGION/CUSTOMS
The 71 Ranch is located on 38,000 privately owned acres at the foot of the Ruby Mountains in Northeastern Nevada in what is known as the Great Basin of Nevada. We average between 2000 and 3000 head of cattle on the ranch most of the time.

It's called Buckaroo Country" and we have some of the best cowboys and buckaroos in the world located right here in Elko. G.S. Garcia, the world famous spur, bit and saddle maker, made his home here and that tradition continues to this day in Elko at JM Capriolas.

Nevada is known as the state with the most mountain ranges (over 300 ranges)and even though we are high desert, this is some of the most beautiful ranch country in the west.

Elko is also home to the internationally known National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Each year Cowboy Poets, Singers and Artists flock to Elko for one of the most cherished week long events of the year.

HISTORY/HOSTS
The 71 Ranch is one of the most historic and well known ranches in Nevada's history. Started in 1879 by Joseph Scott and Caleb Hanks, it quickly became famous for it's superb cattle and horse operations. Scott was the first rancher in Nevada to import Hereford Cattle to the region.

Here at the 71 we are proud to say that we continue the same western traditions that etched the ranch in Nevada history and the Old West.

We do our ranch work the same way it was done a 100 years ago; on Horseback, and you can be a part of that experience.

ITINERARY
Long days in the saddle. A little dirt on your face along with a shining grin. Sitting down to a great ranch meal with new found friends. It's all part of the 71 Ranch experience.

Our itinery differs from week to week, depending on the work we are doing at the ranch. Please give us a call to discuss what might be taking place so you can choose the vacation week that best fits what you would like to accomplish.

No matter which week you choose, you will take home cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
