LODGING
The Sheiling provides 4 star comfort in a simple yet elegant setting. Our 8 air conditioned suites, individually decorated with restful autumn palettes, are beautifully appointed with yellow birch furnishings and flooring to enhance the rugged beauty of the exposed hand-hewn heritage timbers. Sheepskin rugs, Egyptian cotton bed linens and hand-made quilts that reflect the changing seasons, add just a touch of whimsy to these elegant rooms. On the practical side, our well-lit, three-piece baths are equipped with state of the art equipment, an endless supply of hot water and, to quench your thirst, chemical-free drinking water. Sound-proof division walls and concrete sub-floors ensure both a peaceful and quiet stay as well as your privacy. And, to further ensure healthy, clean air, The Sheiling is a non-smoking facility.

RECREATION
More than a fly-in destination offering exhilarating aerial activities, the outdoor experience at Crown Jewel is your gateway to four seasons of adventure designed to both thrill and educate. Our expert, interpreter-guides are at your disposal for a wide range of activities for adventurers 12 years of age and up. Whether horseback riding, fly-fishing, dog-sledding or birding the boreal forest, our team of outdoors men and women are dedicated to providing you with memorable, custom adventures year round!

Animals, an integral part of life at Crown Jewel, provide unique companions for many of our adventures. Indulge in an introductory or advanced course in horse driving. Hike with a llama companion or command a team of sled dogs and explore the wilderness that is Crown Jewel. Let us offer you a unique glimpse into how life was lived in an era almost forgotten, when animals were necessary for both companionship and survival.

Kayak the Baddeck River. Cycle the Baddeck River Valley. Mountain-bike our miles of trails or cross-country ski untouched expanses. Bring along your gear - the possibilities at Crown Jewel are endless!

FOOD/LIQUOR
Flavours is a unique culinary destination that is to be discovered within a panorama of mountains, forest, river, and fields - the natural backdrop to a warming cuisine rooted in simplicity, connecting you directly to the source. We depend on the excellence of the raw materials, the rhythm of the seasonal crops, and a simple style of preparation that permits the natural flavours of the food to come through. From your first glimpse of our tranquil grazing pastures and their tenants, to the meandering Baddeck River and the rolling hills of the Valley beyond, the seasons' ever-changing palette soothes and delights.

Sourcing ingredients from both our own farmlands and those of the surrounding region, our Chef puts together menu items that change daily, allowing you the opportunity to sample the best of what is locally available. He will then customize your experience into an adventure in food, reflecting your personal tastes.

ITINERARY
Every season a different Sampler package offers you the opportunity to experience a selection of our activities and adventures. Summer packages consist of some or all of the following components:

Horse driving: Horse driving is the perfect introduction to our method of handling our Norwegian Fjord horses. Your guide will accompany you on your cart or wagon to teach you vocal commands and how to handle reins attached to halter – no bridles and bits here!

Ride and fish: Saddle up for a day-long riding adventure to the Cape Breton Highlands Plateau and a unique trout fishing expedition to Bell Lakes and an old fashioned, on-the-fire, just-caught lunch.
