LODGING
---
Accommodation on the farm is simple, traditional and very comfortable providing you with all creature comforts. All rooms are individual and tastefully furnished in keeping with the history and style of the estancia, and have their own private bathroom. Antiques and books abound, and crisp winter nights are warmed by wood-burning stoves and open log fires.
RECREATION
---
Every day at the estancia is different, and guests are encouraged to watch and participate in the daily activities of the farm. Canter along grassy hilltops; take a dip in natural rock pools; visit local churches on horseback; help the gauchos round up the young horses in order to protect them from the elusive puma; take an overnight trip north into the sierras during the summer; watch the horse-breaker at work or try your hand at lassoing. Informal polo is usually played weekly on the estancia, so guests should have the chance to be introduced to this fun, fast and highly addictive game. Regular polo weeks are also run for beginner and novice players, with daily tuition, chukkas and a mini-tournament.
FOR CHILDREN
---
Best for older kids who can enjoy riding. Robin and his wife Teleri have four young children who love to have company when they are at the ranch.
FOOD/LIQUOR
---
Meals are European in style, varied and delicious with plenty of excursions into local favourites, with the dishes supplemented by the estancias own organically grown vegetables, fruit and free-range eggs. The excellent chef can cater for a range of special dietary requirements, and there are Estancia Los Potreros ‘own label’ Argentine wines to accompany the meals. Your stay is personally hosted by the Begg family who are always pleased to share their knowledge and tales of the estancia and the local area.
BUSINESS/MEETINGS
---
Team building courses.
REGION/CUSTOMS
---
The locals are steady, respectful and gentle people. The culture of the gaucho and reverence of the horse is strong, and they bring with them the best traditions of Argentina. The locals gather for annual religious or music festivals and ride to the venues kitted in their best attire riding their sharpest steeds. Meals at the estancia reflect traditional cuisine, and the working practices of the farm respect the long history of animal breeding in the area.
HISTORY/HOSTS
---
Estancia Los Potreros is set in a beautiful reserve at the top of the Cordoba hills in the center of Argentina. The estancia dates from 1574 when breeding mules for the silver mines in Peru was the principal activity. Today it is an idyllic retreat for horsemen and nature lovers. This organic working farm breeds Aberdeen-Angus cattle and Paso Peruano horses. It has been in the same Anglo Argentine family for four generations and sets the highest standards of accommodation, combining the pleasures of estancia life with exceptional riding.
ITINERARY
---
Each day you may choose from several rides. Because the ranch is small in the numbers of guests that they host - you can pretty much have your stay tailored to what you would like to do. Programmes include polo and very interesting trail rides, enquiere for more details.
