LODGING
Four cozy cabins tucked into the Aspen trees. Each is heated with two bedrooms (two full size beds in each room) and adjoining bath, snugly quilts, carpeting and rustic atmosphere. A porch on every cabin affords our guests views of open meadows and snow-capped peaks.

RECREATION
Horseback riding is the mainstay. With 650 acres of private land and National forest beyond, there are miles and miles of trails to take you through cool forests and high country meadows. Photo opportunities abound with wildlife sitings and gorgeous wildflowers. Our experienced wranglers will select a surefooted horse for you based on your ability and experience and are always on hand to answer your horsemanship questions.
In addition, guided fishing excursions to nearby lakes and crystal clear streams are offered. The Dubois area is famous for its world-class fishing.
For those who prefer to hike, we have numerous guided and unguided opportunities both on and off the ranch. One of the favorites is an all day, guided trek to the Continental Divide which offers enthralling panoramas.
A day trip to Yellowstone National Park (on your own) is a great adventure as is a day in Jackson Hole with an exciting river float trip.
During the week there are many ranch activities taking place such as a cookout ride to our special open air spot; various forms of entertainment in the evenings; a trip to town for weekly square dancing with other ranches from the area, rodeos, museums, art galleries, and wonderful shops where you can find that unique western gift or keepsake.

FOR CHILDREN
Children have always enjoyed the freedom of the big outdoors here at the ranch. In addition to participating in all of the aforementioned activities, we have a recreation room - "The Gold Pinch Palace" - with games and foosball. There are often spontaneous games of whiffleball after dinner!

FOOD/LIQUOR
At Absaroka you'll enjoy three hearty and healthy meals a day. Cooking is "fresh gourmet" with our own baked breads, pastries, and desserts. Vegetables and fruits are delivered weekly, meats are the finest from our local butcher, and fresh fish is flown in via our supplier.
Wine is offered with dinner every evening. Meals are served family style in the Main Lodge. We recommend bringing your own liquor as desired. Wine served complimentary with dinner.

REGION/CUSTOMS
Dubois has always been in the shadow if its more famous neighbor, Jackson Hole, but we like it that way. Here you can immerse yourself in an unhurried, western way of life. The area teems with history from the Wind River Indian Reservation to the Tie Hack camps to the Sheepeaters to the Mountain Men.
Perhaps you will find an arrowhead or a teepee ring or an elk antler shed last spring. Dubois is home to the largest bighorn sheep herd in North America with an excellent museum, The Bighorn Sheep Center to tell you all about it. There are truly so many things to discover in this unspoiled region.

HISTORY/HOSTS
Budd and Emi Betts and their two children, Lindsay and Robert serve as your hosts. Celebrating our 21st year of dude ranching this summer. The ranch has a wonderful history starting in the late 1800's with original buildings and a picture wall to show how it has changed very little. We have been fortunate enough over the years to have met almost every owner from the past.

ITINERARY
The day begins with our wranglers bringing in the horses from pasture around sun up. Breakfast is in the Main Lodge and coffee is always available.
This is followed by morning horseback rides, hikes, or fishing.
Lunch will be served in the backyard or the Lodge.
The afternoon brings more riding or hiking or fishing.
Then perhaps a nap or a sauna before dinner.
After dinner could be entertainment, conversation, games, or a lovely walk to watch the sun drop behind the mountains.
With the exception of mealtimes, your itinerary can be as varied as you please. We like to stress relaxation, no pressure, pack as little or a lot into your day as you wish . The choice is yours and we will do our best to accommodate all of your choices.
