Working Dude Ranches
Professional working ranches have been in the past closely guarded communities of people living off the land and savoring a "way of life" that has been handed down through generations. Many are still private ranches, but a handful are beginning to open their gates to travelers around the world.
For many guests, staying at a working ranch will be a once in a lifetime opportunity in which they get to learn about what it takes to run and care for the livestock and land. While soaking up the rhythm of ranch life you will acquire horsemanship skills, gather livestock from pastures, drive herds of cattle, and maybe even experience a cow or horse giving birth. You will truly learn what a ranch looks like, smells like, and how it tastes and feels. It is often an experience that truly touches ones heart and soul.
