| Founded two hundred years ago in a district famous for both Indian and criollo legends and mysticism; Estancia grounds contain relics of early settlements, criollo artifacts, plein air chapel and altar guarded by 12 tall Cedars of Lebanon representing the apostles. FIrst level of the main house, was constructed in 1803 of native stone, one hundred years later a second story was built on top of it without disturbing the original plan. Like the Guiraldes family in San Antonio de Areco, the wishes of that first generation were respected: “We tell the insolent pickax not to remove from here any stone,” said Gustavo Becker, ”because for some reason it has been placed here by our forefathers.” |
