REGION/CUSTOMS

GOFF CREEK LODGE is located just 8 miles from the East entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Situated in the heart of the "MOST SCENIC 52 MILES IN AMERICA". Teddy Roosevelt hunted from this Lodge with founder and Guide John Goff. With literally hundreds of miles of riding trails, Goff Creek is a horsemans paradise. Moose, Elk, Bighorn Sheep, Deer, and Bear can all be seen while riding through this magnificent country. Goff Creek Lodge was built in 1906 and has been an operating Guest Ranch ever since. Dude horses hand picked for all types of riders are available. We also allow guests to bring their own horses and board them at our facilities. Our horse operation is designed for our clients, our rides go out when our guests want to go and stay out as long as you would like to ride. In the evenings it is very easy to sit back and relax with the sound of Goff Creek murmuring through the canyon. Our layed back western hospitality is the key to our clients coming back again and again to Goff Creek Lodge. We are open from Mid-May until the end of September.
HISTORY/HOSTS
---
Goff Creek Lodge is surrounded by the Shoshone National Forest and only minutes away from both the Absoroka Wilderness Area and the Beartooth Wilderness Area. This region boasts one of the last strongholds for the magestic "Grizzly Bear". Sightings of these awsome creatures are frequent through-out the summer months as they feed in the alpine meadows or fish in the nearby Shoshone River. On occassion you can even see some of the Yellowstone Wolf packs that roam this area. We ar also on the National Historic Register. Your host "Seven" has been involved in this type of business for the past 31 years. Previous to owning Goff Creek Lodge he operated a backcountry/wilderness Guide and Outfitting business in southwestern Colorado. A wildlife enthusiast, Seven holds degrees in Wildlife Biology, and Range Management he is well versed in the out-door life. Trapping and Transplanting big game animals through-out the Rocky Mountains and working for four years in the bush in Alaska has made Seven a keen observer of wildlife and their habits. The stories abound of the places he has been and the type of work that he has done. At Goff Creek Lodge you will feel yourself slip back in time and find that relaxed homey atmosphere that you've been looking for. Although we offer lots to do here at Goff Creek Lodge, we also give you plenty of time to sit back and relax.
