RECREATION
---
Our concierge is available to assist you in planning activities during your stay – as many – or as few – as you’d like. More than 975 miles of trails wind through the two million-acre Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. Nine wildlife habitat areas are closed to motorized vehicles, including the area surrounding Hidden Meadow Ranch, so you'll enjoy quiet, peaceful hiking, fly fishing, cross-country skiing and trail riding experiences. The ranch has a string of wonderful horses for trail riding and a limited number of stalls are available for guests wishing to bring their own horses. Warm weather highlights also include canoeing, hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. Winter fun activities include skiing and snowboarding as well as cross country skiing, ice fishing and horse drawn sleigh rides.
FOR CHILDREN
---
Hidden Meadow provides a variety of activities for children of all ages. A unique focus on family sets the Ranch apart. The Lodge staff regularly plans special dining events, such as picnics, barbecues and S'mores around the campfire or "Burgers at the Barn" for the youngsters as well as horseback riding, arts and crafts and more.
FOOD/LIQUOR
---
The Hidden Meadow Ranch restaurant has earned a formidable reputation, serving cuisine inspired by the flavors of the mountain west. The Ranch offers a seasonal menu incorporating regional flair and using fresh ingredients from only the finest purveyors. Specialties include achiote-marinated elk tenderloin and pan-seared lump crab cakes. Guests may also enjoy the Ranch’s special dining venues, including barbeque cook-outs, “Burgers at the Barn” and “Smores ‘n’ Snifters,” which combines traditional campfire fare with high-end spirits. Guest's stay includes three gourmet meals per day, ranging from a full ranch-style breakfast in the Ranch House to a trail lunch packed in your backpack or saddlebags to a candlelit gourmet dinner overlooking the meadow. A selection of wine and spirits is available. Evening meals are served in two seatings. At 6 p.m., dinner is a casual experience for families with young children, while the after-7 p.m. seatings provide a more intimate atmosphere for adults.
BUSINESS/MEETINGS
---
Hidden Meadow Ranch also provides a technology-enabled meeting place for executive retreats and small corporate groups in the central Ranch House. The expansive loft of the Ranch also has comfortable seating facing a 42” plasma flat-screen Sony television equipped with DVD/VCR for video training.
REGION/CUSTOMS
---
The 50-acre meadow is the Ranch's centerpiece, protected in perpetuity as open space. The meadow provides grazing for the Ranch horses, but is also an important wildlife corridor for elk and deer, wild turkey, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, brown bears, and endangered Mexican gray wolves, with hawks and eagles soaring overhead. The long-term goal at Hidden Meadow Ranch is to follow the standards of low-impact environmental design to ensure that new buildings , like all existing structures, will blend into the natural surroundings.
HISTORY/HOSTS
---
Homesteaded in the early 1900s, the 150-acre Hidden Meadow Ranch property—far from the nearest highway and miles from any other private land—is little known even to locals. The ranch was owned by members of the original homesteader’s family until 1984 when it was acquired by another Arizona family for personal use. The central Ranch House, the Outfitter Barn and the original 14 cabins were built or remodeled in the 1990s. The family ran the property as a youth camp and small guest ranch until December 2000 when the present owners acquired the beautiful property and began extensive renovation and updating. The Ranch is owned by Tim and Casey Bolinger of Scottsdale, Arizona and Gary and Jeanne Herberger of Paradise Valley, Arizona.
