RECREATION
Horseback riding is the main activity at Hideout Ranch. Riding and other aspects of horsemanship – trail rides, cattle work, barrel racing, lessons, and groundwork – are part of the experience. The trails range from gentle slopes to soaring ridges throughout one of America’s last pristine wilderness areas. Numerous other outdoor activities are also available including hiking, birding, sight-seeing, and photography.

FOR CHILDREN
We do offer activities for children, please call for more information.

FOOD/LIQUOR
Guests at Hideout Ranch dine on delicious meals prepared over an open mesquite fire in the time-honoured tradition of cowboy campfire cooks. The ingredients are locally and organically grown, prepared with attention to seasoning and spices to bring out the fullest flavour of the foods. Beer and wine are available. Food allergies and special requests can be discussed when booking

REGION/CUSTOMS
Hideout Ranch sits between two majestic mountain ranges in the picturesque San Bernardino Valley, and horseback riding the center of ranch activities. Our wranglers guide you along ancient mountain trails, across the desert floor, through washes carved by centuries of monsoon waters caroming off rocky slopes. Set your inner cowboy on the trail to discovery by riding side by side, sharing the freedom of the open range, gathering and moving cattle from pasture to pasture or into the corrals for branding and tagging. From horseback, the fabled west stretches from sunrise to sunset and winter to spring, filling memories and campfire conversations for years to come. Riding in the hoof prints of cowboys, bandits, Apache, settlers, and the US Cavalry, Hideout Ranch wranglers and guests become one with the land and horses, moving from the past and the present, carrying a sense of that wonder from their Hideout adventure back home.

HISTORY/HOSTS
Hideout Ranch has been a working cattle and guest ranch since 2008, but the hosts have spent decades riding in the desert and "back east" in Virginia's Hunt Country. Craig and Tamara J Lawson have over forty years of horse ownership together, and half a decade of raising a herd of purebred Black Angus beef cattle. As ranchers, they welcome you to Come Hideout... on horseback.

ITINERARY
Mornings begin around the fire for sizzling chorizo, homemade Dutch Oven Biscuits, and steaming hot Cowboy Coffee. Then its off to the trailhead, returning before sunset to a mouth-watering dinner just waiting for hungry riders still dazed by the fabulous landscape they rode and the fascinating history they absorbed that day. Call now to book your Hideout Ranch adventure, and set your inner cowboy on the trail to discovery.
