Recreational Activities

Along with our horseback program, we offer many activities at The Historic Pines Ranch. Since we host a maximum of nine families at a time, we like everyone to get to know each other. We begin our week with an Ice Cream Social and end it with a steak fry, farewell, and awards. We chose our activities carefully so that all of the family, even the small children, can participate.

Tea Time at Mippy's is a great way to get to know Casey a little better and listen to her stories about the "Victorian" days of The Pines.

Valley View pond is stocked every spring, and it is rare that a child will leave the Fishing Derby without a fish.

Our Square Dance is a great way to let your hair down and learn a few line dances, two step, and the traditional square dancing.

Upon first entering the Knotty Pine Chuckwagon, you'll quickly notice the walls full of our guests brands. You will be able to design your brand and become a permanent part of Pines history!

The Camp Fire Sing-A-Long is a fun time to sit back and listen to some old country and western music, mixed with traditional camp fire songs and endless amounts of toasted marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for S'mores.

Within the first hour of meeting our staff, you will learn that they are an entertaining bunch! They have put together a fun filled Staff Show, but sure appreciate your talents as well. At our weekly Staff Show, we love to hear your jokes, skits, songs and dances, or any other talents you would like to share!

Throughout the week, you will have practices for our Guest Rodeo, held Saturday morning. Even if you are not a competitive person, you will enjoy sitting and cheering on the participants.

After a long day on the trail, you may prefer a swim in our indoor, heated pool, or just to sit and relax in our hot tub or saunas.

We also offer white water rafting with Arkansas River Tours and an overnight pack trip. For those of you wanting to do some sightseeing, we are close to the Royal Gorge, Cripple Creek Casinos, Colorado Springs and the Great Sand Dunes. We will gladly help you arrange a trip and pack you a lunch. Our small town of Westcliffe, located eight miles from the ranch, is a great place to do some souvenir shopping.
