The exquisite farmhouse boasts a large living-dining room, a further living room and five bedrooms. It combines quality, comfort and colonial style, with the painstaking personalized attention of its owners.
RECREATION
---
Santa Maura is a perfect place for families and friends to enjoy the many delights of nature. Although its main activity is cattle-breeding, the estancia’s enormous territory (over 4000 acres), allows its visitors to watch a large variety of fauna: deer, ostriches, ducks, otters, ship hares, pigs and flamingoes to mention just a few of them, with horseback riding, bird-watching and cow milking as additional options. Horse lovers will also have the opportunity to see the breaking-in of horses in its various stages. Also: canoeing, bowls, fishing, swimming, “sapo” game, ping-pong, football, cards, chess and other board games.
HISTORY/HOSTS
---
Located in Dolores, a district in the province of Buenos Aires, the estancia was, in its time, on the border between the indigenous population and the arriving settlers. Juan Manuel Ortiz de Rosas, Governor of Buenos Aires province, used to take refuge in the estancia during the battles against his Unitarian opponents. Built at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the house possesses a look out post which enabled sightings of the arrival of attacking native Indians, and consequently, preparations for defensive action. In the master bedroom there is a trap door leading down to a basement where the family hid from the Indian raids.
