RECREATION
---
Guests are welcome to take part in all aspects of ranch life, from cattle moving and horse work to checking fences, salting and doctoring livestock, if necessary. Guests can work with young horses under Rocco and Annie's careful eye. Riding is our main activity; each day brings several morning and afternoon rides (lunch at the ranch), at least one short all day ride and a long all day ride(these pack lunches)through country that ranges from high alpine lakes and meadows out into the lower rolling country of the winter ranch. Riders are carefully matched to their horses by our family; all rides have a wrangler. We walk, trot and lope. Riding lessdons are available for those who want them at no charge. Birding and botany rides. Guests also enjoy good fishing for rainbow, brown and brook trout(catch and release) in the Sweet Grass, which flows through the ranch; and in the lakes and beaver ponds where we encourage keeping the browns for breakfast. The hardy swim in the creek. The foothills of the Crazies are excellent for photography, painting, hiking, wildlife viewing and birding, with their snowy tops and sage amongst the evergreen slopes. Overnight horse trips (extra charge) go out at guests' requests. We have gymkhanas and games on horseback. Trips can be arranged at an extra cost to Yellowstone National Park, white water rafting, Indian ceremonials and buffalo jumps.
FOR CHILDREN

REGION/CUSTOMS
---
The ranch is tied to 6 generations of our pioneer ranching family and the closely knit structure of family ranch life.
HISTORY/HOSTS
---
Bill and Shelly are actively involved in all aspects of the ranch; Page and Pat run the corrals besides maintaining an active law practice; Rocco and Annie handle all the horse work in addition to their own cattle and horse ranch; . The upcoming younsters range from 3-7 and are learning the ropes at their parents' knees. Having ranched for 6 generations, the family is very conscious of being good stewards of the land; we use biological weed control, water conservation methods and gear our life to the ebb and flow of nature on our 10,000 acre ranch. We welcome guests from all over the world into our family to share this wonderful life we are privileged to live. Our high per cent of return guests is a tribute to the magnificent country and the ranch life as we live and share it with our guests.
ITINERARY
---
The day starts with early rising guests helping at the corrals, then back to breakfast at 7:30 for a full meal to fuel everyone for a day of riding, working cattle or horses, fishing the lovely waters of the creek, fencing--whatever the guest's choice for the day. Lunch is at 12:30 for those who are at the ranch. About 6 p.m., we gather on the front porch to share the day's experiences over a beverage of choice. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.. From there, the evening unfolds with impromptu games of baseball, fireside sing-a-longs, poetry readings or easy walks to view wildlfie and the brilliant stars. Whatever the guest's choice, the peace of Sweet Grass reaches everyone.
