LODGING
Our cozy rustic mountain lodge has 4 bedrooms and three separate cabins. The lodge overlooks crystal clear Chilko River and our snow capped mountains. While having a jacuzzi on the deck after a great day of riding, you can take in the star filled sky above the mountain silhouettes. It is a perfect setting!

RECREATION
At our lodge we accomodate Horseback Riders and River Fly Fishermen. All activities are fully guided. The lodge riding caters to intermediate and advanced riders. We have great hiking trails, canoes, a jazuzzi and wonderful days spent on Chilko Lake. Our 85 km long Chilko Lake is surrounded by stunning mountain peaks and is home to a wide variety of wildlife including mountain goats, mule deer, grizzly and black bears, eagles, moose and much more! We offer a one week Mountain Pack Trip that will take you where few have ever tried. This is a trip of a lifetime! It's great for singles, couples and small groups. With a great guide and your faithful horse, we will explore the alpine. The mountain vistas, glaciers, wildlife and wild flowers are just some of the highlights that you will encounter!

FOR CHILDREN
Our lodge is activity oriented for the intermediate rider and does not lend itself to most children.

FOOD/LIQUOR
Excellent home cooked meals are served family style in the lodge for our guests. We serve such wonderful meals as prime rib, cornish game hens, steak barbecue, lamb chops and turkey dinner. All meals are served with salads, breads, vegetables, potatoes or rice and a wonderful table wine. Our morning meal is a mixture of fruit, cereals, yogurt and a great hot meal! You will taste the best mountain coffee anywhere! Breakfast and Dinner are served at the lodge and lunches are taken with us while on our daily adventure!

BUSINESS/MEETINGS
We can take a group up to about 18. We have hosted many corporate groups and family reunions. We woud love to combine excellent rainbow trout fly fishing, float planes and great horseback riding for your next group adventure!

REGION/CUSTOMS
We are in the West Chilcotin region of British Columbia. Emerald green Chilko Lake is the gem of this region! With such pristine wilderness, crystal clear waters, world class fly fishing, a network of old Native horse trails and spectacular wildlife and mountain vistas you will think you are in heaven! Log snake fences, abandoned bush cabins, and a bottomless coffee pot...you will still feel the pioneer spirit when visiting us!

HISTORY/HOSTS
In 1957 Bud McLean arrived at Chilko Lake. Horses were still the primary transportation for the local natives and they helped Bud learn more about this great area. They showed him where the game, fish and trails were. Since then the McLean family, headed by Karen McLean, has been guiding horseback riders, fishermen and hunters into this pristine wilderness area. You will have to see it to believe it!

ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive to Chilko Lake by a twin engine plane to our own airstrip. This one hour flight over the Pacific Coastal Range and then over 85 km long Chilko Lake is an experience in itself! You will be greeted by your host Karen McLean. After lunch at the lodge you can either join your guide on the horseback ride, fly fish on the river or stretch your legs on a beautiful hike from the lodge.

Day 2-6 (Lodge): Each morning we decide what we are going to do for the day. Most riders head out on a fast fun day long guided horseback ride along the river, to Choelquoit lake, to the peak of Mt.Tullin (7200' with a stunning view), along the glacial eskers or into our old growth fir stand along Chilko Lake. We usually spend at least one day touring Chilko Lake with opportunities to see glaciers, mountain goat, grizzly bear, moose, deer, eagles, and try some fishing or hiking. This is a day you will not want to miss! Our fishermen usually spend the day on the river with their guide, head up the lake to fish the creek heads or join the riders for a ride. Our rides typically include all three gaits and last the day.

Day 2-6 (Pack Trip): After your first night at the lodge property, and an afternoon ride with your horse you are ready to head out for 5 nights into the coastal mountains. You will spend all day riding each day, sometimes moving camp and a couple nights staying where you are at. We serve great meals over an open fire and sleep to the sound of the rushing creeks. Each days ride will bring you to another mountain vista that will surprise you with its surreal beauty! These trips are once in a lifetime adventures, with great horses, great guides, wonderful meals, stunning beauty, ample wildlife and flowers and a reconnection to the earth. We arrive back to the lodge property on Saturday night for a barbecue and jacuzzi with the rest of the gang.

Day 7: Sunday morning the charter plane takes you back over the mountains to your home, most go unwillingly!
