RECREATION
---
We offer horseback riding/ hiking/ fishing/ we have golf carts to explore the ranch/ sporting clays/ laser shot for evening fun/ cattle drives and round up ( mid May). Our program is designed for a few guests and we cater to their interests and what is going on on the ranch at that time of year. The small groups mean that we can concentrate more on each persons specific desires. Riding: Take a horseback ride on one of our Tennessee Walkers or Quarter Horses, along the historic Santa Fe Trail, which cuts through our ranch, and have your picture taken next to one of the Santa Fe Trail marker left there in 1909 by the Daughters of the Revolution to mark the trail. Or enjoy a ride through the river with your camera at the ready when you see all the wildlife living there. If you desire, you can help us out with our ranch activities. Help moving cattle, branding in the spring, checking fences and windmills, bottle-feeding any calves that need it. We offer riding Lessons if necessary. Fishing: Maybe fishing is more your style. We have 2 ponds which are stocked year round so try your hand catching, bass, perch or catfish. Or just take a good book and relax at the ponds topping up your tan. If no-one if fishing take a dip in the ponds to cool down. Trap Range: Practice your shooting skills at our 5 trap, 4 stand trap shooting range. Designed to test your ability for shooting wild quail, so if you are up for a challenge we’ve got it. Indian Artifacts: Go hunting for arrow heads or Indian Artifacts – which have been found in various parts of the ranch. Hunt for the Wagon Ruts which are still visible in certain parts of the ranch. Hiking: If hiking is your forte there are over 13,000 acres for you to explore, and lots of wildlife and birds to see along your way. Golf Cart Ride: We can also offer a guided Golf Cart ride. We have various gas powered golf carts, so for those who want to take a break from riding, they are an ideal way to see the ranch. If you just want to wander around a look at all the animals, we have goats and chickens to play with – just watch out for the roosters.

REGION/CUSTOMS
---
The Witcher Ranch is a spectacular 18,000+ acre hunting and cattle ranch. We are a cow/calf working cattle ranch with around 400 head. You can be as involved as you like. With over 18,000 acres you will definitely find something to see and do. We have 8 miles of the Cimarron River through the property which although it doesn’t run all the time supports an abundance of wildlife. Not only does the ranch have a lot of history the area itself is teeming with it. The Santa Fe Trail, which was once the main commercial route from Franklin, Missouri in the East, to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the West between 1821 and 1870, runs through the ranch. The ‘Cimarron Cutoff’, was the quickest and most dangerous route and was known as “La Jornada de Muerte”, ‘The Journey of Death’. There is a marker, placed there by The Daughters of the American Revolution in 1927 which shows the route the trail took. Wagon ruts are still visible in various parts of the ranch, so add the abundance of history to an amazing place with droves of wildlife and you have the makings of a great adventure.
HISTORY/HOSTS
---
The ranch was purchased in 1985 by Dan and Anita Witcher who had a dream of running cattle. In 2004 it was passed down to Anita and his two sons. They promised to build 4 cabins on the river, each named after a Grandchild. The vision of cabins grew into the beautiful Lodge we have today, with 4 of the rooms named after the Grand children.
ITINERARY
---
Our daily itinerary revolves around your specific interests and what is going on at the ranch at the time of year. For Example: An early morning ride to round up cows to work, or ride through the sand hills looking for Mule Deer or Elk. Lunch will be around Noon back at the lodge. Then you can take a nap, read, fish, etc, and get ready for the afternoon ride. Then back to the lodge for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and sit down to your delicious 3 course meal.
